Ghana President Mahama met with the Niger National Council for Safeguard of Homeland to deepen ties between the two nations.

General Abdourahamane Tchiani met President John Dramani Mahama at Niamey for conversations at the highest level as President of Niger’s National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland.

The conference confirmed Ghana’s dedication toward upholding its diplomatic policy which combines neighborly relations and regional partnership. After the meeting a joint statement emphasized several main points which included:

  • Leaders stressed the importance of better security partnership between the Sahel and West Africa in order to fight against terrorism.
  • The leaders worked together to develop measures that would boost efficient trade connectivity between Ghana and Niger.
  • Strategies to deepen bilateral ties between the two nations received attention through that meeting.

General Tchiani emphasized multilateral cooperation and asked Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to accept the Alliance of Sahel States.

Ghana President Mahama declared Ghana would stay committed to regional stability while he emphasized the necessity for joint actions against terrorism.

The security expert observed that terrorism creates a substantial risk which affects both Sahel countries and West African coastal nations.

According to Ghana President Mahama, he thanked Niger for its delegation attendance at his presidential inauguration on January 7.

He praised the traditional trade partnership by observing that Ghana throughout its history obtained essential agricultural imports from Niger.

Both Ghana and Niger demonstrate their collective dedication to solve regional problems together with the purpose of creating mutual economic success.

These nations develop West Africa through their combined efforts to ensure security as well as expand trade partnerships and diplomatic efforts.
