Former governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

In his statement, El-Rufai expressed disappointment with the APC’s leadership, accusing them of straying from the party’s founding ideals.

During his time as governor El-Rufai dedicated his efforts to developing human progress through implemented policies.

During his speech El-Rufai denounced the APC leaders for neglecting party structures and dishonoring party members since the start of the last two years. He delivered his resignation to the Kaduna North Local Government Area ward before choosing to join the SDP political party.

The Kaduna State APC chapter demonstrates no reaction to El-Rufai leaving their party. Party officials claim the APC keeps its strength and unity intact even after the departure of their former governor.

The party maintains its commitment to providing good governance as well as preserving core principles which connect to Kaduna State residents.

El-Rufai joined the SDP following multiple political incidents that stressed his connection with the APC party.

El-Rufai maintained his prominent position in helping President Bola Tinubu run for president while facing obstacles within the APC ranks.

The Senate denied his nomination for ministry because they had security reasonings in August 2023. This experience started rumors about his political path which were eventually validated when El-Rufai joined SDP.

Former Governor El-Rufai asked all those who believe in his direction together with his followers to move into the SDP.

He advocates for a unified democratic platform which he views as essential to defeat the APC in upcoming elections while showing dedication to maintain his presence in Nigerian politics.

The political stance of the All Progressives Congress indicates growing confidence regarding its ability to lead Kaduna State and uphold its government policy without El-Rufai.

The SDP stands to gain increased political attention through its new association with a notable political figure who will alter the state’s political environment before upcoming elections.

The current political events demonstrate how easily Nigerian politicians shift their party allegiances while emphasizing the need for ideological coherence and democratic practices within their political organizations.

The changes in political affiliations will receive close observation because they will affect governance practices and political involvement across Kaduna State as well as other regions.
