Egypt and Japan discuss enhanced digital cooperation, focusing on AI, cybersecurity, and smart infrastructure development.

Egypt and Japan have held high-level talks to expand bilateral cooperation in digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity.

The discussions, led by Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and Japan’s Ambassador Oka Hiroshi, aim to align technological strategies between the two nations.

Egypt seeks to leverage Japan’s expertise in 5G and robotics, while Japan views Egypt as a strategic gateway for digital expansion into Africa.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed by Q3 2025.

The talks follow Egypt’s recent Digital Egypt 2030 strategy, which prioritizes tech-driven economic growth.

Japan, a leader in advanced robotics, has pledged technical support for Egypt’s emerging digital economy.

Analysts suggest this partnership could position Egypt as a regional tech hub, attracting further investments from Asia.
