Aremu Afolayan has publicly apologised to Nigerians and said he is withdrawing himself from politics following intense criticism of a recent controversy.

In a message shared on social media, Afolayan addressed the backlash he has received, asking for forgiveness and denying allegations related to money and insecurity.

“To all Nigerians, please forgive me. I’m very sorry. The cvr$3s you guys are raining on me is too much. I didn’t take money from anyone,” he said.

He defended his earlier comments about insecurity in the country, explaining the context of his remarks and citing a personal connection.

“It’s obvious that there’s insecurity and the government isn’t doing anything; what I was trying to say is don’t answer anyone who is saying there’s no insecurity.

My best friend’s mother was k1dn&pp3d and we paid ransom; how would I say there’s no insecurity?” he added.

Afolayan concluded by stating his intention to distance himself from political discussions: “I’m withdrawing myself from anything that has to do with politics.”

The apology follows widespread online criticism after he publicly declared support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and said complaints about Nigeria’s hardship did not bother him.

In that earlier statement, he argued that he supported Tinubu because of diplomatic achievements and expressed that he “doesn’t really care” about broader economic complaints, a position that drew significant negative reactions online.
