A Catholic cleric in Ghana, Prince Chidi Philips, recently described Big Brother Naija as spiritually destructive.
He compared the reality show to a weapon of mass destruction urging Christians to pray and avoid it entirely.
According to the priest, its content undermines faith and encourages moral decay.
The priest cited explicit moments from BBNaija as evidence. In his sermon, he condemned scenes he described as immoral such as a housemate allegedly masturbating onscreen and said such visuals can “kill prayer life” and corrupt believers spiritually.

He went as far as blocking the TV channel airing the show in his home to prevent accidental exposure. He insists watching BBNaija normalizes sinful behavior and warns that it damages society’s moral foundations.
Observers note this message follows a trend of religious leaders opposing BBNaija. In the past, Nigerian pastors and prophets called on the government to ban the program or threatened to use “spiritual power” to end it.
Whether viewers take to this or see it as moral policing, the warning adds another layer of controversy to a show already known for stirring debate.
