Egypt and South Africa have advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, joining six other teams in the race for the continental title and FIFA U-20 World Cup qualification.

Hosts Egypt and South Africa have both secured their places in the quarter-finals of the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), following the conclusion of the group stage matches.

Egypt clinched their spot with a narrow 1-0 victory over Tanzania, earning one of the two best third-placed team positions.

Meanwhile, South Africa topped Group A after a 1-1 draw with Zambia, showcasing consistent performances throughout the group stage.

The quarter-final fixtures, set to commence on Monday, May 12, are as follows

  • Nigeria vs. Senegal
  • Morocco vs. Sierra Leone
  • Ghana vs. Egypt
  • South Africa vs. DR Congo

These matches not only determine the semi-finalists but also the four African representatives for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile later this year.

The tournament has highlighted emerging talents across the continent, with standout performances from teams like Morocco.

Teams who remained unbeaten in their group, and Nigeria, the seven-time champions, who secured their quarter-final berth with solid displays.

As the competition progresses, fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming clashes that will determine the continent’s top youth footballing nation.
