Social activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has issued a stern warning to the Dangote Group, threatening to block all Dangote trucks in Auchi, Edo State if the company refuses to take responsibility for victims injured in crashes involving its vehicles.

In a new statement posted on social media, VDM said he had visited Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, where he found a 22-year-old female accident victim who was allegedly “crushed” by a Dangote truck driven by an unlicensed driver while on her way to submit her school project.

“We met an abandoned victim of a Dangote reckless unlicensed driver… She has been in the hospital for 11 months, with bills of over ₦5 million, and Dangote has abandoned her,” he said.

VDM added that while he recognizes Aliko Dangote as the richest man in Africa, he believes the company must be held accountable.

“We can’t fight you… but we are only telling you to take responsibility. Let the world know that we will not allow any Dangote truck in Auchi today if all victims of Dangote unlicensed drivers are not properly taken care of.”

The outburst comes just days after another Dangote truck accident led to the amputation of BBNaija star Phyna’s sister’s leg, sparking national outrage.

At of now, the Dangote Group has acknowledged some of the recent incidents and pledged support to the affected families but VDM amongst others says words are not enough, insisting that immediate medical and financial assistance must be provided.
