Fast-rising Nigerian street-pop artist Ayo Maff has credited his collaboration with Afrobeats sensation Fireboy DML as the defining moment of his career.
In an interview on HipTV’s Trending, Maff revealed that Fireboy’s feature on the remix of his breakout single “Dealer” was instrumental in catapulting him into the mainstream music scene.
“Without Fireboy, there will be no Ayo Maff because he gave me that thing I want,” Maff said, expressing deep gratitude to the YBNL star. “So thank God and thank you to Fireboy.”
The “Dealer” remix became a massive hit, earning the title of Spotify Nigeria’s biggest song of 2024.
The unexpected collaboration not only boosted Maff’s visibility but also earned him a nomination for the prestigious Headies Next Rated award.
Ayo Maff, born Ayorinde Mafoluku Ayodele in Lagos State, began his music career in 2023 and is known for his raw, street-inspired sound that reflects themes of struggle, poverty, and resilience.
His debut EP, Maffian, released in August 2024, further showcased his storytelling ability and solidified his place in Nigeria’s vibrant music scene.
