Ghana: Ghana’s Minister of Justice, Justice Srem Sai Confirms LPG Leader Kofi Akpaloo Under Investigation Over Fraud

The Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General, Justice Srem Sai, has confirmed that the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), leader Percival Kofi Akpaloo, is under investigation for multiple financial crimes.

In a statement shared on X on Friday, September 5, 2025, Justice Sai made it known that Akpaloo is being investigated by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for offences including fraud, money laundering, dissipation of public funds, and causing financial loss to the state.

 

According to the Deputy Attorney General, the presidential candidate in the 2024 general election, Akpaloo remains in the custody of the EOCO as he is yet been able to meet his bail conditions.

“Suspect Percival Kofi Akpaloo is under investigation on allegations of various financial crimes including fraud, causing financial loss to the State, dissipation of public funds, and money laundering,” Justice Sai wrote.

 

“EOCO officials arrested him on Wednesday, 3rd September, 2025. He has however been granted police bail with 2 sureties to be justified.

 

The suspect remains in the custody of EOCO pending the fulfillment of the bail conditions”, the post concluded.
