Kaizer Chiefs target Bafana stars Elias Mokwana, Sphephelo Sithole, and Oswin Appollis in a major summer rebuild to reclaim glory.

Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up for a bold transfer window, setting their sights on three proud Bafana Bafana wingers to rejuvenate their struggling squad.

Amakhosi, currently stuck in eighth place in the PSL, have identified Elias Mokwana, Sphephelo Sithole, and Oswin Appollis as prime targets from the national team setup.

The club believes these additions align with coach Cavin Johnson’s vision for a stronger, more dynamic attacking force.

Elias Mokwana, who plays for Sekhukhune United, has earned three Man of the Match awards this season and is attracting attention from both Chiefs and rivals Orlando Pirates.

Local fans believe a move would be a coup for Chiefs, although competition remains fierce.

Oswin Appollis, currently starring at Polokwane City, is also high on Chiefs’ wishlist.

Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr confirmed ongoing talks with Polokwane’s chairman and emphasized that Appollis is a top priority. Legendary Chiefs captain Tefu Mashamaite went further, highlighting Appollis as the ideal fit and pushing for a quick deal, warning that rivals like Pirates could snatch him up

Sphephelo Sithole has also emerged as a viable option alongside the other two, though he’s received less public focus .

However, amid this flurry of transfer activity, fans are voicing concerns over the club’s approach. The primary critique? Chiefs are pursuing signings before finalizing their coaching staff. One supporter warned:

“Why is the management targeting players without signing a coach? … they sign players who perform for their clubs. When they arrive, they can’t perform because there’s no coach.”

In parallel, Chiefs are considering alternative options if key deals fall through. AmaZulu winger Tshepang Moremi has been flagged as a backup plan should negotiations for Appollis stall

Why this matters:

  • Chiefs aim to revive their championship ambitions by strengthening the wing.
  • Strategic signings from the national team could energize a club in desperate need of attacking flair.
  • Ensuring coaching stability and transfer coherence will be key to turning these plans into on-field success.

Kaizer Chiefs have made their intentions clear: comprehensive rebuild through proven Bafana talent. Whether they land Mokwana, Sithole, or Appollis remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—Amakhosi are ready to challenge once more.
