Kenyan woman Akinyi Hellen accuses her younger sister of betraying her by engaging in an affair with her partner, highlighting the complexities of familial relationships

In a heartfelt Facebook post dated May 3, 2025, Kenyan woman Akinyi Hellen publicly accused her younger sister of engaging in an affair with her partner, despite Hellen’s significant sacrifices to support her sibling.

The post has since gone viral, igniting widespread discussions on social media about family loyalty and betrayal.

Hellen detailed how, following their parents’ separation, she assumed the role of caregiver for her sister, ensuring she received a proper education and upbringing.

Despite these efforts, Hellen alleges that her sister repaid her by having an affair with her partner.

She wrote, “My sister repaid me by sleeping with my man. That’s why I low-key hate marriage because part of me feels men are just evil people. Who does that?”

Further compounding the betrayal, Hellen claimed that her sister attempted to tarnish her reputation by spreading falsehoods among mutual friends and secretly communicating with the father of Hellen’s child, frequently requesting money from him.

“Recently, she was all over texting the father of my kid asking for money and I let it slide. She made it a habit and I had to put a stop to that nonsense,” Hellen stated.

The emotional toll of these events led Hellen to express her disillusionment with familial relationships, stating, “When I say I don’t want kids anymore, I don’t want my daughter to go through the bullshit I go through in the name of siblings”
