Kwesi Appiah who previously managed the Ghana national football team, now takes charge as head coach of Sudan’s Falcons of Jediane squad.

Sources show that Appiah chose not to participate in Sudan’s Saudi Arabia training camp because Sudan failed to pay his salary.

Sudan prepares to face Senegal on March 18 before their match against South Sudan takes place on March 24. The team faces readiness issues because of Appiah’s absence even though both cup qualifiers remain important.

The Sudan Football Association recognizes salary-related problems; thus, they actively pursue quick solutions.

Since taking charge in Sudan, Kwesi Appiah has delivered numerous important accomplishments. Sudan secured its spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after the strong leadership of Appiah demonstrated his successful managerial approach.

His dual responsibilities in sport have faced numerous disagreements from critics.

Although serving as Sudan’s head coach together with his Executive Council role at the Ghana Football Association creates potential conflicts when Ghana and Sudan compete against each other in the AFCON.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) requests that Appiah give up either one of his positions in order to protect competition integrity.

The Sudanese coaching position remains strictly independent from external pressures, according to Appiah. The achievement of success depends on team decision-making, which requires independent authority, according to Appiah.

According to him, external involvement can weaken coaching performance, which produces negative results.

The World Cup qualifying success of Sudan depends heavily on resolving Appiah’s outstanding wage payment and bringing him back to the team because they currently lead Group B with 10 points.

The matches against Senegal and South Sudan represent essential opportunities for Sudan to achieve World Cup qualification for 2026.

This situation reveals the difficult multiple tasks that coaches handle while dealing with administrative obstacles.

The incident illustrates why teams need transparent contracts combined with prompt payment of obligations to protect their focus on performance excellence.
