Lauryn Hill made a striking debut at the 2025 Met Gala, held on May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Embracing the event’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which celebrated Black menswear and dandyism, Hill donned a sculptural butter-yellow suit designed by Ghanaian designer Jude Dontoh.
The ensemble featured a double-breasted jacket with a dramatic cape, wide-leg trousers, and was accessorized with a burgundy tie, a statement necklace, and a gold-encrusted fan
Hill’s outfit paid homage to Black dandyism and highlighted African artistry on a global stage.
Her appearance was further accentuated by a cerulean blue Hermès Kelly bag, adding a vibrant contrast to her ensemble .
This marked Hill’s first red carpet appearance in nearly a year, underscoring her enduring influence in both music and fashion
The 2025 Met Gala was co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, and served as a fundraiser for the Costume Institute.
The event also marked the opening of its spring 2025 exhibition exploring Black dandyism
