Julius Abure, National Chairman of Nigeria’s Labour Party (LP), has extended a heartfelt invitation to party defectors, affirming that those who choose to return and apologise will be welcomed with forgiveness.
Speaking after a Federal High Court validated the LP’s national convention, Abure appealed directly to Peter Obi, Alex Otti, and others who departed during internal disputes over leadership, urging them to reconcile and rebuild together
He emphasised that forgiveness must be accompanied by genuine repentance and restitution.
“I forgive them for they do not know what they are doing,” Abure said, referencing Christian teachings in his call for unity.
He urged returning members to reflect on their actions and contribute positively to healing divisions within the LP .
Abure framed this moment as a fresh start for the party, one that demands cooperation, respect, and mutual purpose.
He called on important figures including former presidential candidate Peter Obi to set aside differences and help steer the LP toward restructuring and grassroots reconnection
This message comes amid mounting pressure from stakeholders, including the Obidient Movement and trade union leaders, urging Abure’s faction to yield leadership control or step aside altogether.
Abure insists that reconciliation, not recrimination, is the best path forward, and that the party is stronger when united.
