Nollywood actor and politician Yul Edochie has called on President Bola Tinubu to disregard early 2027 election discussions and focus squarely on Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.

The former presidential candidate’s intervention comes amid escalating violence nationwide.

“Don’t be distracted by 2027 talks,” Edochie stated in a viral social media post. “Nigerians need safety before politics.” His comments reference recent attacks in Plateau, Sokoto, and Abuja that left over 200 dead.

Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga recently dismissed 2027 speculation as “premature,” but opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar have already begun coalition-building.

The actor’s intervention resonates with frustrated citizens. Abuja business owner Amina Yusuf lamented: “We can’t discuss elections when farmers can’t harvest crops safely.”

As Tinubu’s administration approaches its mid-term, security outcomes may define its legacy more than economic reforms. Edochie’s warning underscores growing public impatience with political maneuvering amid persistent bloodshed.

With Nigeria’s security challenges now affecting all regions, the pressure for tangible solutions has never been greater.
