A Nigerian Lawyer, popular known has celebrity lawyer has expressed her frustration and deep sadness over a disabled man with speech and hearing impairments that was allegedly raped by fellow man.

The lawyer in particular, said she showed her interest in this case because it would have been an opportunity for the Nigeria legal system to interpret the requirements to probe that a man had been raped, which is an area of law in Nigeria that wasn’t clearly defined.

However, the victims father, who was the nominal complainant in court, because of the disabilities of the victim, has withdrawn the case, saying he no longer wish to pursue the case.

Allegedly, the father had received the monetary settlement from the accused ‘s representatives to drop the case.

In the viral video, the lawyer lamented that the poverty had obstructed access to justice for the disabled victim and prevented the exploration of this news area of law in Nigeria.

Mean while, the incident has caused controversy and discussions online about whether a criminal case can be withdrawn by an individual once it has reached the court, because it is generally believed that such cases are typically considered actions by ” the State versus accused’.
