Former Super Eagles Captain, Mikel Obi urges sacking of NFF board if Nigeria fails to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, citing poor leadership.

Nigeria’s chances of making the tournament are in Serious jeopardy after a disappointing draw with South Africa left the team third in Group C — six points adrift of leaders Bafana Bafana with only two games remaining.

The former Chelsea midfielder while speaking on his Obi One Podcast, laid the blame on poor leadership and not the players.

“If Nigeria doesn’t qualify for the World Cup, the whole NFF board has to go. It’s unacceptable,” Mikel said. “We missed Qatar and now it looks like we’re heading for another failure, It’s horrible.” he continued.

While acknowledging that the players bear some responsibility, Mikel stressed that the main problem lies with the football federation who, he said, must be held “accountable” for the Super Eagles’ struggles.
