Popular cleric Chukwuemeka Odumeje has stirred reactions online after openly criticising President Bola Tinubu’s administration, questioning the achievements of the current government.

Speaking during a church sermon, Odumeje claimed he could not identify any significant accomplishment of the Tinubu-led administration since it assumed office, arguing that only members of the ruling party continue to celebrate the President.

“I don’t know the people celebrating Tinubu. Tell me one thing Tinubu has done since he entered government.

The only thing I know Tinubu has done is secure APC to remain in charge of Nigeria. Only APC people are celebrating him,” he said.

The cleric also expressed disappointment over the country’s leadership, alleging that Nigerians had become accustomed to poor governance instead of demanding better performance from elected officials.

Odumeje further referenced Tinubu’s campaign promise on electricity, claiming the President had pledged to deliver stable power supply within his first term.

“Tinubu promised us that once he entered government, give him four years and Nigeria would have 24-hour electricity. If it doesn’t happen, let him not be voted for a second term.

I don’t belong to any political party. I’m talking about good governance and leaders who can develop the nation they were elected to serve,” he added.

His remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing with his criticism of the government, while others defended the President and argued that reforms take time to produce results.

The comments have added to the ongoing debate over the performance of the Tinubu administration as Nigerians continue to express differing views on the country’s direction.

"I don't understand why people are celebrating President Tinubu. Tell me one thing he has done for the average Nigerian since becoming president.

The only people praising Tinubu are those benefiting from his government. Can anyone point to what he has done for ordinary… https://t.co/9nJwIgpso8 pic.twitter.com/2ysiklN0tU
