Governor Seyi Makinde has urged Oyo residents not to blame the President, governor or local government over the recent security crisis, saying now is the time for unity.

He assured residents that security agencies are working tirelessly and that efforts are ongoing to restore safety and secure the release of affected victims.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on residents to remain united and avoid blaming any level of government over the recent security challenges in the state.

Addressing protesters and concerned residents, Makinde said the situation requires collective support and cooperation rather than accusations, stressing that security agencies are working tirelessly to address the crisis.

According to the governor, now is the time for people to come together instead of engaging in blame games.

“So it’s not the time for us to say, well, it is the president that should have handled this, it is the governor or the local government.

This is the time to pull together as one,” he said.

Makinde described those responsible for the attacks and kidnappings as abnormal individuals, questioning how anyone could carry out such acts against fellow human beings.

“We’re not dealing with normal human beings. We’re dealing with people, I mean, just think briefly, how will somebody take a fellow human being and slaughter him? Is that somebody that is normal?” he asked.

The governor also appealed to students, teachers and workers to continue trusting the government, assuring them that efforts are ongoing to restore safety and secure the release of those affected.

“I can only appeal to you, to the students, the workers, the teachers, I can appeal to you to please have trust in your government. We’re doing our best,” he said.

Makinde disclosed that security operatives deployed by the Federal Government have been working in the affected area for the past two weeks.

He added that he has been holding multiple meetings daily with security agencies to coordinate efforts and improve the response.

He further warned against actions or statements that could create division within the state.

“We shouldn’t provide oxygen to the people that want to see us divided,” he added.

Security operatives from the federal government have been in Oyo State for the past two weeks, and we've been meeting with them three to four times daily.
