Anyanwu rejects expulsion from PDP, slams Ibadan convention as ‘jamboree
Factional National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Samuel Anyanwu, has dismissed his expulsion from the party, describing the recently concluded national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, as a Jamboree
Anyanwu spoke on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics hours after the PDP announced his expulsion alongside other party chieftains.
He argued that the exercise was fundamentally flawed, claiming that many states were not represented.
He said,
“16 states had not even done their congresses; the entire South-East has not done theirs. All that happened yesterday [Saturday] was a jamboree.”
Anyanwu further noted that even previous congresses had not been formally communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Malami declares 2027 Kebbi governorship bid
Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has officially announced his intention to run for governor of Kebbi State in the 2027 election.
Malami vowed to tackle insecurity and revive the state’s struggling agricultural economy.
He made the declaration during an interview with DCL Hausa on Monday, monitored by our correspondent, where he expressed confidence in the strength of his political support across the state.

Wike-backed PDP faction summons emergency BoT, NEC meetings
The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced that an emergency meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee will hold on Tuesday, November 18, 2025
According to a notice issued on Monday by the factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and shared by the media aide to the FCT minister, Lere Olayinka, on his X handle, both meetings are scheduled to hold at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The notice stated that the BoT meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m., while the NEC meeting will follow at 2:00 p.m.
It added,
“Attendance is very important as crucial matters will be discussed and addressed.”

Police debunk assassination attempt on naval officer in face-off with Wike
The FCT Police Command has reacted to the trailing of Lieutenant AM Yarima by unidentified persons in two unmarked Hilux vans in Kubwa on Sunday evening, with the officer conducting escape manoeuvres to lose them.
Military sources had disclosed that the incident which saw the occupants of the vehicles trailing Yarima from the NIPCO Station off the Kubwa Motorway through to Gado Nasco Road is being investigated.
Reacting to the report, spokesperson of the police command, SP Josephine Adeh, said,
“The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to publications circulating on social media alleging an attempted assassination on Lt Ahmed Yerima.
“The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory.
“The public is advised to disregard this false information and desist from spreading unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary panic.
“For the safety of all residents, the Command urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police Division.”

Survivors of police brutality and extra-judicial killings in Abia State have petitioned Governor Alex Otti over the non-payment of the N511 million compensation approved for them by the Abia State Judicial Panel of Inquiry.
Police brutality had triggered the 2020 #EndSARS nationwide protests, which culminated in the shooting of protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos.
In response to the public outcry that followed, state governments across the country set up judicial panels to investigate complaints of police abuse and recommend compensation for victims.
In Abia State, the panel chaired by former Chief Judge, Justice Sunday Imo, with former Solicitor General Mrs. Uzo Uche Ikonne as Secretary, submitted its report in July 2021.
According to survivors who addressed journalists in Umuahia, the government has yet to release the approved compensation.
The victims said the panel, set up under the administration of former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, considered over 86 cases, out of which 46 were found to have merit.
It subsequently recommended the payment of N511 million in compensation.
