“NYSC members should also help combat insecurity”— Pastor Ashimolowo to FG
Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo of KICC has called on the federal government to train National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to help combat insecurity in Nigeria.
Speaking on national security, Ashimolowo noted that the country’s youth population, which makes up 60 per cent of Nigerians, represents a largely untapped resource in the fight against crime.
He highlighted the example of Israel, where citizens serve in the army from the age of 18, arguing that similar training for NYSC members could enhance public safety across the nation.
“The nation should look for ways to harness Nigerians.
If we train our youth early, like Israel does, we will increase our security level and make our people proud to be Nigerians,” Ashimolowo said.
He further warned against the over-reliance on state police, stressing that such forces could be misused for personal or political agendas.

Wetin una dey petition me for? Wetin una dey petition General Asabuja for? He shows gun, he shows rifles. Make una petition Fulani people now. Petition bandits now. Why is my own different?” he said.
House Of Reps Member Abiante Questions Tinubu Govt’s ‘Inaction’ As Côte d’Ivoire Aircraft Evacuates Ex-President Jonathan From Guinea-Bissau
Hon. Awaji-Inombek Dagomie Abiante, a member of the House of Representatives representing Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal constituency of the Rivers State, has criticised the Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian Government for what he described as an alarming silence in the face of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s ordeal during the recent military coup in Guinea-Bissau.
In a post shared on social media platforms, Abiante expressed deep concern that it took the intervention of Côte d’Ivoire’s President to evacuate Jonathan from the troubled nation and return him safely to Nigeria.
Viral videos of Jonathan’s return to Abuja confirmed that the plane belongs to the République de Côte d’Ivoire, as boldly displayed on its fuselage.
According to him, the action should have come from the Nigerian government
He went further to make a sarcastic declaration about changing his identity: “Okay, I’m a bandit for Niger Delta. I don agree.
I’m a Fulani. My papa from Fulani for peace to reign, my mother from Niger Delta, Rivers State.
Because when Fulani do something, they dey go free. Fulani people come and adopt me. I’m a Fulani man. God bless Nigeria.”

Appeal Court dismisses Nnamdi Kanu’s rights violation suit against DSS DG, AGF
The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, on Friday, struck out an appeal filed by the convicted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
In the appeal, the IPOB leader challenged what he described as the violations of his fundamental rights by the Director-General of the Department of State Services and the Attorney-General of the Federation.
A three-member panel of the appellate court held that the appeal lacked merit and had become academic following Kanu’s conviction and life imprisonment sentence by the Federal High Court in Abuja on November 20.
Delivering the lead judgment, Justice Boloukuromo Ugo said the claims of rights violations, including alleged denial of adequate medical care, dignity of person and freedom of religion, could no longer be entertained since Kanu was no longer in DSS custody but in a correctional facility.
Osun drifting towards systemic failure – APC tells Adeleke

It aimed at easing governance and attracting development projects with direct impact on citizens — the reverse has been the case in Osun State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke since its inauguration three years ago.
