Kaduna: Sani is God-sent, says Fani-Kayode
Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has described Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State as a “God-sent leader” whose emergence was a divine intervention to restore peace, unity, and justice in the state.
Fani-Kayode stated this on Saturday at the 35th Anniversary Synod of the Diocese of Kafanchan, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion).
He said Sani’s administration had begun to heal the wounds of mistrust, discrimination, and insecurity that affected the state in the past.
He is not an ordinary person,” Fani-Kayode said.
The former minister recalled that Kaduna State once faced severe religious tension, adding that Christians were marginalised and victims of violence, especially during the 2016 Christmas Day attacks in parts of Southern Kaduna.
He said about 800 people were killed in four local government areas on that day, describing the incident as a “gruesome massacre” that left lasting scars on the Christian community.

National Assembly approves creation of six new states across Nigeria
The National Assembly’s Joint Committee on Constitution Review has approved the creation of six additional states across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The decision, reached at the end of a two-day retreat in Lagos, was co-chaired by Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
According to committee sources, the move aims to promote fairness, regional balance, and equitable representation in governance.
Lawmakers believe that the addition of new states will help address long-standing agitations for inclusion and autonomy, particularly in zones that feel politically marginalised.
If implemented, the proposal would expand Nigeria’s number of states from 36 to 42, a change that could reshape the country’s political and administrative structure.
FG Moves to Repatriate Nigerians Detained in Libya as Senate Raises Alarm Over HRA

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, confirmed on Friday that talks are ongoing with key international partners to facilitate the release and safe evacuation of the affected citizens.

Seyi Shay Extends Olive Branch To Tiwa Savage, Says It’s Time to Move On from Old Feud
Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has expressed willingness to reconcile with Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage, signaling an end to a long-standing industry rivalry between the two music icons.
In a recent interview, the Right Now crooner addressed their infamous fallout, noting that the controversy surrounding a Pepsi commercial years ago — which many believed sparked the rift — was strictly a brand decision, not a personal attack.
Seyi Shay stated that she has always admired Tiwa Savage’s achievements and maintained respect for her as a pioneer in the Nigerian music scene.
She debunked speculations that she celebrated any challenges Tiwa may have faced in the past.
Reflecting on the tension that escalated into a heated confrontation in a Lagos salon in 2021 — a moment that went viral online — the singer said both artistes were operating under immense competitive pressure at the time, leading to misunderstandings and emotional reactions.
Falana raises alarm over Oworonshoki demolition
Lagos-based human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, has raised concerns over alleged attempts by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) to demolish buildings within the Itesiwaju Ajumoni Community Development Association in Oworonshoki, Lagos.
The alarm follows an interim court order issued by the High Court of Lagos State, Ikeja Judicial Division, which restrains the state government and its agents from carrying out the demolition or transferring any interest in the disputed community land, measuring approximately 30 hectares.
The legal intervention came after residents of the Itesiwaju Ajumoni Community Development Area, through their lawyers from Falana & Falana’s Chambers, filed an ex parte application challenging the planned demolition of their properties located at Ajileru Street, Ososa Extension, and Toluwalase Extension in Oworonshoki.
