FG, Katsina to convert 123,000 hectares into modern ranches
The Federal Government, in partnership with Katsina State government, is set to convert about 123,000 hectares of grazing reserves in the state into modern ranches and livestock support facilities, as part of a new initiative to modernise animal production and expand halal meat exports.
The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, announced at a meeting with Governor Dikko Umaru Radda at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja yesterday.
Maiha praised the Katsina government for its early investment in livestock development, including the creation of a dedicated Ministry of Livestock Development and the establishment of what he described as Nigeria’s largest goat rearing farm with over 3,000 goats.
He said the planned conversion of 123,000 hectares of grazing land into ranches would support efficient livestock management and help reposition the state as a model for sustainable animal production in the country.

The group urged the President to extend his ongoing security sector reforms to include a comprehensive audit of the NSA’s operations and coordination framework to ensure accountability, transparency, and efficiency within Nigeria’s security architecture.
In a statement signed by Comrade Mohammed Grema Adamu, Chairman of the Coalition, the youth leaders described the President’s decision as a ‘bold and historic step’ towards repositioning the armed forces.
However, they insisted that genuine reform must also involve the scrutiny of all offices linked to national security, including that of the NSA.

Iheanacho to play under new manager as Brendan Rodgers resigns at Celtic

Resident doctors issue 19 demands to avert indefinite strike
The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has listed 19 demands which it described as minimum expectations required to avert a total and indefinite nationwide strike scheduled to commence on Saturday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the President, Dr Muhammad Suleiman, stated this on Monday in Abuja at a media conference while presenting the resolutions of NARD’s Extraordinary National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
The meeting followed the expiration of its 30-day ultimatum to the Federal Government.
He said the association had exercised patience for too long in the face of government’s inaction, warning that doctors have already begun ward rounds and patient handover ahead of the planned industrial action.
According to him, the outstanding payments and welfare issues affect not only resident doctors but all categories of health professionals, including administrative staff.
12 feared dead as bus rams into tanker in Kano
A ghastly motor accident involving a Kano Line passenger bus and a tanker near Darki town in Wudil Local Government Area of Kano has claimed no fewer than 12 lives.
The tragic incident occurred along the busy Kano–Gombe Road.
According to eyewitnesses, a tanker driver, who was reportedly working on a road construction project, allegedly made a sudden turn in the middle of the highway.
The Kano-bound passenger bus was unable to avoid the collision and rammed into the tanker, resulting in multiple fatalities on the spot.
The Director of Kano Line, Alhaji Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu, confirmed the devastating incident.
He disclosed that the bus was carrying 16 passengers.
Anambra: Police foil robbery attack, kill one suspect
The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed an attempted armed attack on Ezinifite Community, Nnewi South Local Government Area of the State in the early hours of Monday, 27th October 2025.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident in a statement in Awka.
He said the attack was successfully repelled following a swift response and resistance from the combined security team of the Police and Agunechamba Vigilante Operatives in the area.
The Joint Security Team engaged the assailants in a gunfire exchange, leading to the killing of one (1) of the attackers, while the others escaped into a surrounding bush with suspected bullet injuries.
The operatives also recovered one pump-action gun from the scene, as well as the body of the dead suspect.
