Female Police Officers In Enugu Forced To Pay N5,000–N10,000 For 70th Nigerian Women Police Anniversary, Threatened With Transfers
An atmosphere of tension is brewing within the Enugu State Police Command following allegations that female police personnel are being compelled to pay mandatory levies for the upcoming 70th Anniversary Celebration of Nigerian Women Police, scheduled for December 4.
An internal memo obtained by SaharaReporters, circulated on WhatsApp by senior female officers, instructed all female personnel across divisions and formations to contribute specified amounts toward branded T-shirts and entertainment for the event.
Under the arrangement, senior female officers are required to pay N10,000 and above, while those in the Inspector, Rank and File cadre are mandated to pay N5,000.
The funds are to be collected by the “most senior woman” in each division and remitted to an individual account: Theresa Eneh Chioma; Account Number: 3030601038; First Bank Plc
Police Deny Reports Of Gombe ECWA Church Attack, Mass Abduction Amid Social Media Claims
Bandits reportedly attacked a church in Gombe on Sunday, abducting several members, according to a post on social media.
The church was identified as an Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) congregation.
Shiela Shallangwa, a chef, shared the report on Facebook, citing information from a friend in Gombe.
“Just out of church and I received a call from a friend in Gombe,” she wrote.
“They attend an Ecwa church in Gombe. They kidnapped the members. Not long ago. In broad daylight….”
However, Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Buhari Abdullahi, dismissed the claims as false.
He said,
“The ECWA Church that they’re talking about, Chief Superintendent of Police and Superintendent of Police and other officers were there since 6:00hrs and nothing is happening there.
So it is a fake and misleading information.

Popular Fuji musician Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere and his team were reportedly attacked on Friday, November 21, 2025 at a burial ceremony in Okitipupa, Ondo State.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Ayonla Obesere Althentic, media manager to Obesere.
Ayonla said the incident occurred after Obesere concluded his performance and they were preparing to leave the venue.
Large groups of touts surrounded the area. One group converged on my location because I was carrying the bag of money.
Despite our efforts to leave peacefully, my principal and I were aggressively confronted.
The assailants demanded that I hand over the bag; when I refused, a violent struggle ensued,” he explained.
He described sustaining serious injuries during the attack, including a dislocated shoulder and multiple blows, some involving a knife.
Taraba emergency agency donates relief materials to IDPs
The Taraba State Emergency Management Agency on Sunday delivered relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons in Kufai Ahmadu and Chanchanji communities of Takum Local Government Area, following weeks of deadly attacks that have left thousands homeless.
Over 70 people have been reportedly killed, at least 300 houses have been razed and more than 3,000 families have been displaced in Chanchanji ward within the last four weeks in attacks blamed on armed herdsmen.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Executive Secretary of TSEMA, Echuseh Audu, said the intervention was part of the state government’s humanitarian response aimed at cushioning the hardship of victims of the violence.

Footage from the scene showed his vehicle heavily damaged, with bystanders expressing shock at what some Nigerians on social media described as a pattern of dangerous and reckless driving behaviour.
This incident adds to a string of accidents linked to DJ Chicken over the past two months in Ogun and Lagos States.
In a post shared on X on Saturday, A user who identifies as Chief Ayodele Afolabi (Otun Bashorun), called on authorities to immediately prohibit DJ Chicken from driving, citing escalating risks to public safety.
“I wish to express my deep concern regarding the repeated incidents involving the individual popularly known as DJ Chicken.
Within the past two months, he has been involved in no fewer than three serious road accidents, each posing grave danger to the public, Afolabi wrote.
Petrol tanker explodes, kills one, razes six shops in Anambra
A tanker conveying Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) exploded in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, killing one person and destroying no fewer than six shops.
The incident occurred late on Friday along Udoji Road, Ozubulu, close to the Ekwusigo LGA Secretariat, after the tanker reportedly collided with a car and a tricycle, spilling its contents and triggering a massive fire.
Residents and eyewitnesses told PUNCH Online on Sunday that the collision caused a loud explosion, which immediately engulfed the tanker and spread rapidly to adjoining shops.
The tanker hit a car and a tricycle, spilled its contents and then exploded. One person was burnt to death instantly.
Some passengers in the tricycle sustained severe burns and were rushed to the hospital.
Several shops were already on fire before the firefighters arrived,” an eyewitness said.
N6trn: Court orders Tinubu govt to publish NDDC forensic audit report, name those indicted
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, in a landmark judgment, has ordered President Bola Tinubu to direct the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to widely publish the names of those indicted in the alleged misappropriation of over N6 trillion meant to implement the abandoned 13,777 projects and in the running of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) between 2000 and 2019.
The court also ordered the president “to publish and make available to the public the NDDC forensic audit report submitted to the federal government on September 2, 2021.
The judgment was delivered on Monday 10 November by Hon. Justice Gladys Olotu following a Freedom of Information suit number: FHC/ABJ/CS/1360/2021, brought by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).
The certified true copy of the judgment was obtained last Friday.
