Nigerian Afrobeat sensation Davido has expressed his interest in collaborating with global superstar Rihanna.
The singer shared this during a Livestream session with popular Nigerian streamer and musician Carter Efe.
The collaboration reflects Davido’s ambition to connect with global music icons.
According to GistLover, the conversation took place on Wednesday evening on the Twitch platform and lasted for three hours.
When Carter Efe asked Davido about the artists he would like to collaborate with, he responded, “I would definitely love to work with Rihanna and Kehlani.
I feel like Rihanna and I could create some amazing music together. I’d also love to collaborate with my peers, including Tems, Ayra, and Morravey.”
This revelation follows the recent buzz over an AI-generated song that combined the vocals of Rihanna and Davido, which quickly went viral online. In other news…
Sharing his thoughts on X, he wrote,
“Imagine no Davido…. Sh*t would have been boring AF,” sparking a variety of responses.
While some fans supported his confidence, others argued that he might be overstating his influence.
This isn’t the first time Davido has positioned himself as central to the Nigerian music industry.
In an April 2025 interview with Apple Music, he recounted how the industry seemed to pause when he stepped away from social media in November 2022, following the heartbreaking loss of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
According to him, both fans and critics were eager for his return during his three-month hiatus.
Davido first gained widespread attention in 2011 with the release of his hit track “Dami Duro,” emerging alongside a wave of young Afrobeats talents, including Wizkid.
However, not everyone agrees with his view of the industry. Veteran producer Samkleff recently suggested that Davido’s arrival introduced rivalry and tension among artists.
He noted that before Davido rose to fame, there was a sense of mutual respect within the Nigerian music community.
