Social commentator and activist VeryDarkMan has issued a new warning to the Dangote Group, accusing the company of allowing its truck drivers to operate in Edo State without proper licenses, leading to a growing number of fatal accidents.
In a statement shared on social media, VDM said he and a group of concerned residents temporarily stopped a Dangote truck on the Auchi–Edo highway, claiming the move was meant to protect locals from “reckless driving.”
“We stopped this Dangote truck with a lot of aboki in it and a driver without license as usual,” he wrote.
“These trucks will be allowed to go at 9 p.m., when people are back in their houses.”
VDM further accused the company of abandoning accident victims, including a 22-year-old student who was reportedly crushed by a Dangote truck while heading to submit her project. According to him, the young woman has been hospitalised for 11 months at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital with unpaid medical bills now exceeding ₦5 million.
He also claimed that six people were killed just a day earlier in another crash involving a Dangote vehicle on the same road.
“Dangote makes 60% of his money here in Edo State, and yet more people are dying from his trucks. We are urging him to regulate his drivers and double-check the people he gives his trucks to drive,” VDM said.
The activist added that while he recognises Aliko Dangote’s status as Africa’s richest man — and his influence over security agencies “taking responsibility” remains the only acceptable response to the rising number of casualties.
As at now, , the Dangote Groupstill has not issued an official response to VDM’s latest claims.
