Maglera’s musical journey began at the age of 10, influenced by mentors like Khuli Chana, Towdeemac, and Kay Gee.

His unique sound, blending poetic lyrics with cinematic visuals, has garnered attention both locally and abroad.

Competing alongside fellow South African artists TxC and Dlala Thukzin, as well as international acts like Nigeria’s Shallipopi and the UK’s Odeal, Maglera views this nomination as validation of his artistic direction.

He plans to attend the awards ceremony in Los Angeles on June 9, embracing his roots with what he describes as “full kasi flair.”

Maglera’s music transcends traditional genre boundaries, incorporating elements of jazz, trap, and gospel to reflect the diverse experiences of his community.

He emphasizes that his work is not just for entertainment but aims to resonate with those who see their own stories in his verses.

This BET nomination not only celebrates Maglera’s individual achievements but also underscores the global impact of South African hip-hop.

As he prepares for the international stage, Maglera continues to carry the essence of Kanana in his music, serving as an inspiration for aspiring artists from similar backgrounds.
