Zambia and Huawei have collaborated on a project dedication to digital transformation and rural development through their AI-driven smart village implementation at MWC 2025.

Advanced technology enables this initiative to unify digital accessibility while it strengthens public service quality and remote community economic progress.

During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, the Zambian Ministry of Technology and Science worked with Huawei to display the smart village project.

This initiative supports Zambia’s Vision 2030 through its mission to empower communities and reduce societal inequalities.

The construction took only thirty days until Zambia inaugurated its first smart village in July 2024. The development project brought electricity and internet along with remote education and telemedicine services to benefit an entire underserved community.

AI-driven solutions have become essential for government entities worldwide in their mission to improve public service offerings.

According to Li Junfeng as the Vice President and CEO of Global Public Sector BU at Huawei digital transformation remains essential to improve both national capabilities and citizen well-being.

The transformation depends heavily on Artificial Intelligence because it creates more operational efficiency and technological advancement.

Huawei seeks to team up with worldwide partners in order to advance digital governance and sustainable technology usage.

Koh Hong-Eng as Huawei’s Global Chief Public Services Industry Scientist facilitated discussions about national digital transformation throughout the forum.

The Smart Villages Project supports Zambia’s long-term development objectives according to Minister Felix C. Mutati of Technology and Science.

The education specialist emphasized that smart education serves as a crucial foundation to provide essential digital capabilities to the future generation for the fourth industrial revolution.

The organization remains committed to accelerate intelligent public services in addition to establishing cognitive society development. The company implements digital solutions to enhance governance performance and economic conditions that benefit the livelihood of citizens.

The company leads the development of digital systems which benefit society by providing fair and efficient operation to governments worldwide.

AI has led to major technological advances which support smart village initiatives in Zambia. Through the combination of artificial intelligence and digital solutions Zambia obtains new developmental prospects along with expanded countrywide accessibility.

The project serves as an example that different nations should adopt technology to construct sustainable development.
