Kenya’s Lands CS Alice Wahome urges Mt. Kenya residents to prioritize development initiatives over political debates, highlighting the government’s commitment to affordable housing and job creation.

In a recent address in Oljabet town, Laikipia West constituency, Kenya’s Lands, Housing, and Urban Planning Cabinet Secretary, Alice Wahome, called on the Mt. Kenya region to shift focus from political discourse to developmental projects.

Emphasizing the government’s dedication to the affordable housing program, Wahome highlighted the creation of over 200,000 jobs nationwide through this initiative.

During the event, Wahome launched a new market project valued at Ksh 56.3 million, set to accommodate 500 traders upon its completion in nine months.

She assured transparency in stall allocations and directed local authorities to ensure the contractor employs local youth, offering daily wages of Ksh 600 for manual laborers and Ksh 1,200 for artisans.

Accompanying Wahome, Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri echoed the call for development-centric focus.

He emphasized evaluating leaders based on their contributions to public welfare rather than political affiliations.

The event underscored the government’s commitment to infrastructural development and economic empowerment in the Mt. Kenya region, aiming to foster unity and progress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
