Burkina Faso will receive 709.5 tons of food from Russia this May, as Moscow expands its humanitarian support to Africa.
Burkina Faso is set to benefit from a major humanitarian shipment from Russia, as part of the latter’s aid initiative to support African nations.
According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a total of 709.5 tons of food is prepared for delivery to Burkina Faso.
This consignment includes grains and other essential food items meant to address food insecurity in the region.
However, the humanitarian assistance will be distributed through the United Nations World Food Programme, using resources funded by the Russian government.
This marks one of several deliveries Russia has made to African countries in recent months.
In January 2025, Russia supplied 29,400 tons of diesel to the Central African Republic.
They also sent 559 tons of peas and 164 tons of sunflower oil to Zimbabwe in December 2024.
These deliveries form part of Russia’s broader foreign policy objective to deepen partnerships across Africa.
Russia’s Agriculture Minister, Oksana Lut, also stated that the country is ready to offer more humanitarian aid to African states.
This is possible if new agreements be reached.
This delivery to Burkina Faso reaffirms the strengthening ties between Moscow and several African governments
