In a striking turn of events, global rapper and cultural icon Nicki Minaj has publicly commended the move by U.S. President Donald Trump to designate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) citing alleged large-scale killings of Christians in the country.
On 31 October 2025, Trump declared Nigeria a CPC under U.S. law on international religious freedom, pointing to reports that thousands of Christians had been killed by radical Islamist groups and militias.
Nicki Minaj responded via her account on X (formerly Twitter) saying:
“Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God.
No group should ever be persecuted for practising their religion.”
She further added:
“We don’t have to share the same beliefs to respect each another.
Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror & it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice.
Thank you to the President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian.”
