Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has opened up about his spiritual journey, revealing that he converted from Christianity to Islam in a quest for truth and enlightenment.
In a recent interview with streamer Playboymax, which was aired on Monday, the African Giant crooner shared that his search for a deeper understanding led him to explore several religious doctrines.
However, he admitted that the more he studies religious texts, the more uncertain he feels about the answers he seeks.
Burna Boy disclosed that his decision to embrace Islam was a conscious effort to find meaning beyond traditional teachings, though he confessed that fulfillment remains elusive despite his extensive spiritual exploration.
“Growing up, I was a Christian, and then I converted to Islam.
It’s like I’ve studied it all, but I’m still out here trying to find out what is really going on, you know?
The more I research, the more confused I get,” he said.
At its core, Burna Boy’s move reflects a deep, ongoing spiritual struggle.
It shows he’s not content with inherited beliefs but driven by a hunger for truth, identity, and connection with something greater than himself.
His words about still feeling “unfulfilled” reveal that his conversion was not about labels or belonging but a continuous search for inner peace and understanding.
