Military Action: Nigerian Presidency Says Trump- Tinubu Meeting Plans Still Ongoing
The Nigerian presidency has expressed optimism that President Bola Tinubu will soon meet with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, to further strengthen bilateral relations between both countries.
The Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, stated this on Monday.
He expressed the hope during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time.
“I said Tinubu and Trump will hopefully meet, either at the White House or the State House.
“It could happen at any time. In diplomacy, protocol is key.
When you’re building something, it must be preserved and protected.
We will not be pressured into revealing the stage we are at in this discussion because in diplomacy there must be respect for protocol,” Bwala said.
Mob Sets Fire To Nigerian Immigration Checkpoint In Lagos After Stray Bullet Hit Woman
Anger and tension have engulfed the Igbogbele community in the Badagry West Local Council Development Area of Lagos State after a stray bullet allegedly fired by an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service struck a middle-aged woman, Hunsu Elizabeth.
The incident, which occurred last Friday, sparked widespread outrage, with furious youths taking to the streets and setting the immigration checkpoint ablaze in protest against what they described as another act of recklessness by security operatives.
The footage showed thick flames consuming the checkpoint, with voices in the background expressing rage and disbelief at the officers’ actions.
According to PUNCH, a woman’s voice could be heard screaming at the scene of the incident saying, “You have shot the lady! Don’t go! They have shot her in the arm.
You’re not supposed to shoot!”Another man yelled in anger, “You can’t go.
You can see what you’ve caused.
The gunshot has wounded her!
”Men shouldn’t kneel to propose; you’re doing her a favour” – Geh Geh
Social media personality, Geh Geh, has set tongues wagging online after boldly declaring that African men have no business kneeling to propose to women.
Speaking during an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Geh Geh said it makes no sense for a man to kneel while proposing to someone he is actually doing a favour by marrying.
In his words:
“Naturally, in Africa, men are not supposed to kneel to propose to a woman because you’re doing the woman a favour.
It’s like doing someone a favour and still kneeling to beg them. It doesn’t make sense.”
Group warns against normalising vote buying after Anambra election
A civic organisation, Citizen Monitors, has cautioned against treating vote buying as a normal feature of Nigerian elections, following reports of financial inducement during last weekend’s Anambra governorship poll.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Head of Communications, Olajumoke Alawode-James, the group described the election as seemingly calm and orderly on the surface but tainted by widespread allegations of cash exchanges, voter intimidation, and subtle coercion at polling units.
“Anambra has voted. On paper, the election looked calm and orderly. But from what many voters, observers, and online reports described, another story sits underneath:
cash moving quietly, bags changing hands, and subtle pressure around polling units,” the statement read.
Citizen Monitors said the presence of orderly queues and functioning voting machines does not equate to a credible process if financial inducement remains unchecked.

Religion not Nigeria’s crisis, says Soyinka
Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka has faulted recent remarks by United States President Donald Trump, who classified Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged persecution of Christians.
He warned that such sweeping statements distort reality and risk deepening religious divisions.
Trump had, earlier this month, threatened possible military action against Nigeria over alleged killings of Christians by radical Islamists.
The Federal Government dismissed the claim, insisting that insecurity in Nigeria affects citizens of all faiths.
In an interview with Democracy Now, Soyinka said the country’s crisis should not be mistaken for a war between Christians and Muslims, but rather seen as a struggle against extremist groups that have weaponised religion for political and economic gain.

Residents of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Rivers, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have reported sharp increases, with consumers expressing frustration at the renewed burden.
