Social media activist VeryDarkMan has raised fresh concerns over the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, alleging that despite the payment of a ransom, the victims are yet to regain their freedom.

The allegation has not been confirmed by the Oyo State Government, and many Nigerians have continued to call for urgent action to ensure the safe return of the schoolchildren and their teachers.

In a video shared online, the activist claimed he received information that the Oyo State Government paid ransom to secure the release of the 39 pupils and seven teachers who were abducted by bandits.

According to him, the kidnappers allegedly collected the money but refused to release the victims.

“Yesterday, I got an information that the Oyo State Government paid ransom for the release of the 39 children and seven teachers that were abducted by bandits.

It is said that after the government made the payment, the kidnappers still refused to release the children and teachers.

As of today, they have spent exactly 49 days in captivity

As of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Government has not publicly confirmed the alleged ransom payment, and the claim remains unverified.

The allegation has sparked concern online, with many Nigerians calling for urgent intervention from security agencies and the Federal Government to secure the safe release of the victims.

“Yesterday, I got an information that the Oyo state government paid ransom for the release of the children and teachers that were k!dn&pped at 15th of May, 2026 at Orire LGA. The k!dn&ppers collected the money but has still refused to release those children.”
