Afrobeats superstar Davido has reacted after a viral moment involving rapper Zlatan Ibile during his homecoming concert at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) stirred online conversations.
The event, tagged “Symbol of Hope Homecoming,” took place at the school’s Sports Centre and drew a large crowd of students and fans as Zlatan, who studied at MAPOLY between 2011 and 2012, returned to celebrate his journey.
Tension briefly rose during an award presentation when the event’s MC attempted to dedicate the honour to the “City Boy Movement,” saying: “This award is on behalf of the City Boy Movement.”
Zlatan quickly interrupted, correcting the statement and triggering cheers from the audience.
“Bro, I don’t understand what you’re saying. No be City Boy movement we come do for here,” he said, a moment that immediately went viral across social media.
The rapper later used the occasion to reflect on his early struggles, reconnect with an old schoolmate on stage, and encourage students to stay hopeful despite life’s challenges.
The free concert also featured performances from Small Doctor and Carter Efe, with surprise appearances from Mayorkun and Peruzzi.
Rapper Olamide, widely regarded as Zlatan’s mentor, also applauded the initiative online.
Reacting to the viral moment, Davido commented under a post by entertainer Tunde Ednut, saying: “Una wan put my brother for wahala.”
