MTN has made it simple to share data because everyone deserves to live a modern, connected, and convenient life. While people are on the hook for connecting to the rest of the world, MTN has developed practical ways to accomplish this connectivity.

MTN, as one of the most recognisable brands in mobile network markets, commits to acting as a link between the digital and physical worlds.

In a world of expeditious change within the digital and physical environment, MTN has provided a diverse range of affordable data. We can share data on MTN for other smartphones, tablets, modems, etc

This brand understands how important and necessary it is for friends and family to stay connected and has provided a data-sharing service. MTN Data Share is an advanced service that allows customers to share their data with other MTN users.

MTN users also know the data sharing plan as a data gifting service, where the users of MTN get to share, transfer, or gift their data. It allows subscribers to transfer data to another MTN line, so a person can make use of it.

Ways to share or gift data

  • Activating it through the USSD code dial.
  • Using the MTN app’s data functionality.
  • Via SMS

Activating MTN USSD plans is simple and can be done by dialling *312#. Plans range from hourly to annual.

Methods of sharing data on MTN

  • Use the dial app on your keypad.
  • Enter *312# and choose “gift data plan.”
  • Choose “transfer from data plan balance” after that.

After choosing the data amount and confirming, input the user’s number to whom you wish to transfer data. Soon after the data amount sent is credited to the recipient’s number, a notification is sent.

For instance, dial *312*08039745367*500# to share 500 MB with 08039******.

Using the above example, all you have to do to send an SMS via SMS is type “transfer 500 MB to 08039*****.”

Click “share,” then “data,” then “new number,” enter the amount of data you wish to share, and then “confirm” when utilising the MTN mobile app.

It is simple to send or share data on MTN with friends and family thanks to the data gifting plan. There are no charges whatsoever applicable to sharing data on MTN.

It is free on MTN. Everyone who uses MTN can now access this. Dialling *312*phone number*data amount# will allow you to share data with your loved ones conveniently. The maximum amount you can transfer or share in a day is 3GB.

Although there are few limitations to data sharing for MTN, they include:

  • You can only share regular data plans, i.e., bonuses or special data bundles cannot be shared on MTN.
  • You can only share data with a fellow MTN user, i.e., sharing data with different mobile network providers is not possible.

Since the maximum amount of data we can share in a day is 3GB, you definitely cannot share more.

The minimum amount of data you can share on MTN is 50MB, also, the maximum amount of time you can share or transfer data is twice daily.

Talking about sharing data with your loved ones, MTN also introduced a family pack bundle to enable you to share data with your family. It has a special data feature that enables us to add and grant data to less than five beneficiaries.

By dialing *312*1*7# to get activated on this plan. By dialling this code, you get to add your beneficiaries by selecting the “add new beneficiary” option. However, you would be charged N100 for each modification after registering the five numbers within 30 days

You, the guarantor, get to set limits on the data usage for each beneficiary.

Mtn will also give you a bonus of 500MB for each beneficiary you add for every family pack bundle activated. To add limits, we still have to dial *312*1*7#, then select the option for “add new beneficiary or sponsor,” and then select the “allocate family pack” option. After this, you will be able to allocate data to your beneficiaries

Conclusions

MTN data sharing is an ingenious service that allows MTN customers to easily connect with others regardless of their internet connectivity or account details.

This spreads convenience to more customers, allowing them to enjoy the advantages of sharing data and helping with connectivity with other people. However, MTN brought about different ways we could connect with the outside world with just the code *312#.
