Beyond Touch: How AI Is Redesigning Smartphone Interactions

The mobile technology field is changing quickly as major actions take place. Under his leadership, Samsung’s President TM Roh leads the industry toward making artificial intelligence the main way people use their phones while keeping traditional interface options relevant.

At a San Jose news briefing after Galaxy Unpacked Roh described the complex route of mobile technology development. According to him the arrival of generative AI will produce gradual improvements that differ from a sudden revolution.

Our traditional smartphone user interface remains the centerpiece of the experience but intelligent systems will extend its capabilities with context-aware observations.

A New Approach to Intelligent Systems is Coming Into View

Computer programs now understand user requirements better and handle multiple job steps automatically without human help. With features such as AI Select the Samsung Galaxy S25 series demonstrates how AI tools can assist users by recognizing screen content to recommend suitable actions directly on their screen.

Consider a practical example: As you view YouTube videos AI Select can initiate GIF creation saving you the time to switch between apps. The system transforms user experiences beyond added functions by redesigning how users interface with technology.

Our technology combines conventional and advanced interface types to work with today’s devices.

AI develops as an enhancement element instead of replacing existing user interfaces. Roh explained that they expanded AI capabilities to make a personalized AI agent that handles multiple input methods.

Companies have built their smartphone interface expertise around apps and touchscreens for many years. AI will improve digital interfaces without replacing touch or app functions to produce smoother responses.

The Scale of Transformation

Samsung puts strong effort behind this plan. The company reports that 200 million AI-enabled Galaxy devices are being used by customers across the globe. Voice commands now replace standard methods of finding content to demonstrate how people prefer natural computing through speech.

As we stand on the cusp of this new era, one thing becomes clear: Modern smartphone progress lies in enhancing existing interfaces with response automation instead of replacing how people communicate with technology. AI will merge into our digital interfaces rather than fully replace them to create a smarter more natural technology experience for us.
