Ghanaian actor Ogidi Brown has shared an emotional testimony about surviving a horrific car accident abroad, solemnly reflecting: “Even if this was destined to happen, I thank God it didn’t occur in Ghana.”
The “A Country Called Ghana” star suffered multiple fractures in the European crash last month.
While grateful for life, he reflected on the healthcare he received:
- Immediate Quality Care – Received surgery within 3 hours of accident
- No Financial Stress – Insurance covered €120,000 medical bills
“Seeing my treatment, I remembered our hospitals’ struggles,” Brown admitted, referencing Ghana’s under-resourced trauma centers.
His comments have reignited debates about medical tourism and local healthcare investment.
The actor’s ordeal comes as Ghana’s NHIA struggles with delayed reimbursements, forcing some hospitals to ration care.
Brown, now undergoing physiotherapy, vows to advocate for better emergency care in Ghana.
“Our health workers are heroes without tools,” he said
