As Resident Representative, he will oversee IMF operations in Ghana and serve as the Fund’s key liaison with government bodies and partner institutions.

His appointment comes at a crucial time as Ghana navigates economic reforms and seeks enhanced policy support.

The transition follows the tenure of Dr Leandro Medina, Ghana’s current IMF representative.

Alter’s academic credentials include a PhD in Quantitative Economics and Finance, along with fluency in English, French, German, and Romanian—adding to his strong policy communication skills

Economists view his arrival as potentially invigorating for Ghana‑IMF relations.
