Chinese Ambassador Guo Haiyan made a courtesy call to Inspector General (IG) Douglas Kanja on February 12, 2025 at the National Police Service (NPS) Headquarters located in Nairobi. The conference aimed to strengthen the existing ties between Kenya and China by focusing on developing security-related operational and bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Guo Haiyan and IG Kanja held discussions that focused on multiple vital aspects:

Continuous training programs received priority from both parties because they want to give law enforcement personnel advanced capabilities and emerging security skills.

Through the discussion security agencies received focus regarding their institutional capacity development initiatives. The organizations must strategically distribute resources while making technological improvements and creating operational plans to improve their operational efficiency.

Active involvement in INTERPOL initiatives received emphasis during the meeting because the meeting acknowledged the transnational nature of security threats. Through their collaboration with INTERPOL member nations will obtain better capabilities to exchange crime intelligence while performing joint operations and developing unified crime responses.

Ambassador Guo thanked the NPS for their continued partnership and declared that China will keep backing Kenya’s security development projects. She declared China’s commitment to enhancing its security alliance with Kenya because stable security conditions are essential for national success.

During the meeting, the Inspector General of Police acknowledged the decade-long strong and friendly relationship existing between Kenyan and Chinese security departments. According to IG Kanja, this comprehensive partnership has enabled multiple capacity programs and knowledge transfers through the last decade thus enhancing Kenya’s security systems.

Security collaboration between the two countries will receive additional focus because both parties made this commitment at the meeting’s conclusion. The representatives showed confidence in strengthening Kenyan-Chinese relations as security conditions continued to transform.

The meeting included Ambassador Jane Makori as Head of the Asian Desk at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with Mathew Kutoh as Principal Assistant to the Inspector General and Muchiri Nyaga as NPS Spokesperson.

Kenya and China maintain a strong collaborative commitment to protect their shared economic growth as well as ensure national security. This partnership becomes crucial for developing strategic security measures because present-day security issues continue to grow in complexity.

Future security cooperation between Kenya and China will create substantial advantages for national defence growth alongside regional stability improvement. The joint utilization of resources and expertise and strategic projects allows these countries to develop security systems that protect against present and future risks.

The global partnership between Kenya and China shows international security alliances and how solidarity and mutual respect create success through common objectives.
