Oyinkan Braithwaite thrilled the literary world with her announcement of “Cursed Daughters” following her international success with “My Sister the Serial Killer” as she unveiled her second full-length novel.
Atlantic Books acquired the publication rights for “Cursed Daughters” from Oyinkan Braithwaite after launching her landmark first book to readers around the world.
Through its interwoven plotline “Cursed Daughters” explores Eniiyi’s journey through love and destiny while storytelling about her belief in supernatural forces.
After pulling a striking stranger from a near-drowning incident the young female protagonist develops a profound affection for him. A traditional family curse which supposedly destroys families as well as breaks hearts becomes a powerful obstacle preventing her new relationship from developing.
Eniiyi’s family believes that her resemblance to her late aunt constitutes a rehashing of the deceased cousin’s character because they think she has returned as a reincarnated soul. As she navigates these waters of love and family expectations, Eniiyi must confront a crucial question: Anticipates breaking the terrible fate which consumed her dead aunt even though she must discover whether her destiny leads to thwarting her ancestor’s curses and myths.
The announcement came through Braithwaite’s Instagram, where she shared her excitement with fans: “Happy Monday y’all. My second novel has really made me feel tremendous excitement and joy.
Clare Alexander who leads Aitken Alexander conveyed her trust in Braithwaite’s potential to release another hit after her spectacular first book. Alexander said “My Sister the Serial Killer entered the room as a refreshing breezeproofing against the smoldery atmosphere.”
She pointed out that several writers from the 2024 Frankfurt Book Fair similar to Braithwaite but publishing executives missed this in 2017. Alexander confirmed her prediction from 2017 that Braithwaite’s new storytelling ability delivered in “Cursed Daughters” exceeded expectations.
Braithwaite’s debut received success because of her editorial partnership with Atlantic Books through her editor James Roxburgh who she described as “extremely tall.” The reunion of “Cursed Daughters” has created significant market excitement among publishing professionals.
