Buhari’s burial rites concludes today as his remains return to Katsina for burial. President Tinubu will lead the official delegation receiving the body at the airport.
World leaders have sent numerous tributes recognizing to honor him.
Katsina State has made comprehensive preparations. Governor Radda declared three days of mourning and deployed additional security for the ceremonies. The burial will follow Islamic traditions at the family compound.
Military honors include a 21-gun salute and full regiment procession. The Nigerian Army will provide ceremonial escort from the airport.
International attendance includes representatives from 37 countries. Several West African presidents will join the funeral procession, along with U.S. and EU envoys.
Local residents began gathering along the route since dawn. “We came to honor our son,” explained Katsina elder Alhaji Dikko. Businesses near the procession path have voluntarily closed.
The Federal Government has arranged special flights for dignitaries. The burial program emphasizes simplicity, reflecting Buhari’s personal preferences.
Officials expect massive turnout but urge orderly conduct.
