The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a stern warning about the circulation of counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachets in Nigeria.
The fake products bear striking similarities to the original, unauthorizedly using the Cowbell brand name, NAFDAC registration number, and packaging design.
Promasidor Nigeria Ltd., the rightful manufacturer, stopped producing the “Our Milk” variant back in September 2023, switching to the “Our Creamy Goodness” packaging. The fakes have resurfaced, creating widespread alarm.
NAFDAC laid out key differences between the genuine and spurious sachets to help consumers stay safe.

NAFDAC emphasized that consuming these counterfeit sachets could lead to severe health consequences, including allergic reactions, foodborne illnesses, organ damage, or even death.
The most vulnerable groups, infants, pregnant women, children, and the elderly are at heightened risk.
In response, the agency has mobilized zonal directors and state coordinators to intensify surveillance and remove these unsafe products from circulation.
Consumers and retailers have been urged to buy dairy only from licensed suppliers, carefully examine packaging for authenticity, and report any suspicious products or adverse effects to NAFDAC via hotline (0800-162-3322) or email.
This alert follows previous warnings from NAFDAC in specific regions like Nasarawa and Kano, reflecting persistent challenges with food safety in local supply chains.
