Nigeria pharmaceutical industry to benefit from new training academy, targeting 70% local drug production by 2030.

Nigeria pharmaceutical industry is poised for significant growth as the Federal Government announces the establishment of the Empower Academy Nigeria.

This specialized training hub aims to enhance local pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing capabilities.

Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Pate, unveiled the initiative on Sunday.

The academy is part of Nigeria’s broader healthcare industrialization agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.

It follows a memorandum of understanding between the Empower School of Health, Geneva, and Nigerian authorities.

The academy’s primary goal is to help Nigeria achieve its ambitious target of producing at least 70% of its pharmaceuticals and a significant share of its vaccines locally by 2030.

The establishment of the academy aligns with global trends emphasizing the importance of local drug production, especially in the wake of supply chain disruptions experienced during recent global health crises.

By investing in local manufacturing and training, Nigeria aims to ensure a more resilient and self-sufficient healthcare system.

In summary, the launch of the Empower Academy Nigeria marks a significant step towards transforming the Nigeria pharmaceutical sector.
