A Nigerian man alleges misconduct by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), claiming that the agency no longer accepts bail payments in naira but now demands payment in foreign currency.

The man took to social media to make the allegations, while claiming that the agency had detained his brother.

According to the account, the man said the situation was based on a personal experience involving his brother, who is currently dealing with the anti-graft agency.

He expressed concern over what he described as a shift away from Nigeria’s local currency, questioning when the country began operating officially with dollars instead of naira.

He further alleged that EFCC operatives carried out a raid on his apartment in his absence and carted away several personal items.

Among the items he claimed were taken are perfumes, power banks, wristwatches, drinks, and even personal hygiene products.

He added that more items would likely have been removed if they had been found during the operation.

“I want you to be aware that EFCC do not collect bail in Naira again. This one no be say person tell me; na wetin my brother dey face.

I don’t know when Nigeria started operating with Dollars, instead of our own local currency.

EFCC raided my apartment and made away with my perfume, my power banks, watches, If they had seen ringlight, they would have stolen my ring light too.

How you go come raid my house when I no dey? You spray my perfume, you steal am; steal drinks Tell me what EFCC is doing with my perfume. Even PS pad they stole it…”
