Dr Paul Kwabena Amaning, a well-respected agribusiness strategist and grassroots advocate, has been elected national president of the Oil Palm Development Association of Ghana (OPDAG) during the group’s conference held today.

His election was met with enthusiastic support from delegates across the country.

Aman’s election marks a pivotal moment for Ghana’s oil palm industry.

As former Eastern Zone chairman and national organiser, he championed inclusivity, traceability, and innovation.

He also serves as president of the Artisanal Palm Oil and Outgrowers Association of Ghana and previously held leadership roles with the Tree Crops Development Authority and the Ghana Small‑Scale Oil Palm Producers Association.

It’s this blend of grassroots insight and institutional experience that delegates cited as key to his leadership appeal

In his acceptance speech, Amaning emphasised unity and sustainable growth:

“This victory is not just mine. It is a win for every farmer, processor, entrepreneur, and investor who believes in the future of Ghana’s oil palm industry”

He also announced plans to deepen collaboration with regional partners, including the Oil Palm Growers Association of Nigeria, to establish a unified traceability system

As Amaning assumes his tenure, expectations are high that OPDAG will spearhead positive change fostering investment, empowering youth.
