Ghana Police have taken into custody Reverend Daniel Yaw Donkoh, following a controversial prophecy in which he claimed dancehall artist Shatta Wale would be assassinated by unknown attackers.

The arrest occurred amid mounting public pressure after the preacher aired two alarming visions: one depicting Shatta Wale fleeing armed men, and another showing the musician being killed in an ambush while in his car

In a viral post shortly after the prophecy was shared, Shatta Wale called out the police, warning they had one week to act.

He criticized past police leadership, accusing former IGP George Akuffo Dampare of tolerating baseless spiritual fear-mongering, and promised a “lesson” to the nation should Donkoh remain free—though he pledged no violence would be involved.

Shatta Wale labeled the prophecy exploitative, accusing certain pastors of monetizing religion at the expense of truth and integrity.

He posted passionately on X that such individuals prey on the vulnerable for trends and profit, urging them to beware the spiritual consequences of their actions.

Reverend Donkoh has yet to issue a public statement since his arrest. The case has stirred important discussion in Ghana’s faith and civil society circles about the boundaries of prophecy, public safety, and accountability.
