South African media personality Minnie Dlamini refutes online allegations after derogatory comments by podcaster MacG, highlighting the need for accountability in media discourse.
South African media personality Minnie Dlamini has publicly addressed and refuted recent online allegations that emerged following derogatory remarks made by podcaster MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho.
The controversy began when MacG made crude comments about Dlamini on his podcast, suggesting that her personal hygiene was the reason for her breakup with ex-boyfriend Dr. Brian Monaisa and implying that she “can’t keep a man.”
In response to these comments, Dlamini announced her intention to pursue legal action against MacG, stating that the apology she received through his attorneys was insufficient and came only after significant reputational damage had been done.
Following her announcement, social media users accused Dlamini of hypocrisy, alleging that she had previously made derogatory remarks about MacG and her ex-boyfriend, soccer player Itumeleng Khune.
Dlamini took to X (formerly Twitter) to deny these claims, asserting, “I did not call anyone a rapist nor did I speak about Khune’s private parts. Stop spreading lies to justify nonsense.”
MacG has since extended an invitation to Dlamini to appear on his podcast to resolve the matter publicly.
However, Dlamini has not indicated whether she will accept this offer.
The incident has sparked a broader conversation in South Africa about misogyny in media and the importance of accountability for public figures.
