Standard Bank Malawi invests MWK15 million in youth robotics innovation, reaffirming its dedication to fostering technological advancement and empowering the nation’s youth.

The bank’s sponsorship of the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge National Event, held on April 22, 2025, at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre, brought together innovative minds aged 13 to 19 from across Malawi.

The initiative belongs to the “Malawi Girls Can Code Too” project whose funding comes from the Embassy of Ireland and operates under UN Women Malawi leadership together with the Ministry of Education and Gender and iMoSyS and UNDP and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The program teaches young individuals digital capabilities for solving climate issues by integrating robotics with artificial intelligence (AI).

The Malawian national competition finalists will compete to become representatives of Malawi at the Global Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Grand Finale which takes place in Geneva on July 8, 2025.

Standard Bank Malawi demonstrates its dedication to create technology-based solutions for beneficial transformations through the words of its Brand and Marketing Head Tamanda Ng’ombe.

Standard Bank engages in this challenge because the organization aims to use technology as a catalyst for meaningful social evolution according to Ng’ombe.

The support from Standard Bank for youth innovation makes Chiwara from UN Women Malawi appreciate the bank’s substantial dedication to fostering Malawi’s development.

The bank takes pride in backing programs that encourage innovative progress and support gender equality together with digital skill training for developing a sustainable society she mentioned.
