Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN), has disclosed its key points agenda for the year with expansion, service improvement, and drawing strategic content providers across the federation as the majors.

This would help in connecting tertiary institutions and necessary service providers to work hand in hand with the National Research and Educational Network (NGREN). And also leads to a conducive environment for foreign content providers.

One of the key points of the Exchange is to enhance the capacities of its links performance-wise and minimize its delay. The Exchange also wants to be flexible by creating Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) in regions where IXPN POPs are available within Lagos by enabling Digital/online peering.

This enthusiasm is due to the successes the Exchange achieved last year. One of the many successes is the establishment and get-going of Netflix Open Connect Appliance in Abuja and Lagos which was set out to foster users’ experience and enjoyability.

Another success the Exchange recorded is getting its highest traffic on local internet with 570Gbps last year and moving to double that by this year’s end.

In addition, Abuja Switch and Lagos Global Cache (GGC) servers were bettered in 2023 to cater to today’s demands. This showed the Exchange’s commitment to productivity and constant improvements in its network architecture.

The company agenda for 2024 further shows its desire for growth and enhancement of internet connectivity while catering to its stakeholders in the ecosystem.
